Shortlisting 2 concepts for further development

This week we were organised into our groups for making our music videos. My group consists of myself, Vova, Daisy and Anais - here's a picture of us ! :

For our first lesson as a group we had to short list 2 concepts out of the total of 9 ideas that we had between us.
To do this we wrote out everyone's 3 ideas. Any that we knew wouldn't work, because of budget or location for example, we eliminated straight away.
We assessed all the ideas left to see how much we liked them all. We made notes of any thoughts we had, for example that although we liked the concept for Daisy's 'Run Boy Run' idea, the song itself is too popular so we decided to keep some parts of the idea but change the song.

At first our two ideas we selected to develop further were....

1. For the song 'Stay' we wanted to incorporate the aspect of a green jungle set, as in Daisy's idea, and the pink lighting from my 'Hold Ya' into one idea.  However in the second lesson, on Tuesday, we ran through our idea with Phil and he didn't really think that the green and pink colour scheme would work well together as the colours clashed too much. We agreed that it would be best to pick one separate idea and run with it rather than trying to combine everyone's different ideas into one as this will look messy and the different strands won't fit together well.
Therefore we decided to go forward with my idea for Hold Ya (idea 2 on my previous blog posts.) We have spent the last few lessons developing the look for this video and the 3 strands we want to have in it. I created a mood board of the look we are going for, which can be accessed here. I used the website 'moodboard' to create this.
The strands we want to incorporate : a boy and a girl dancing, a separate girl lip syncing, possibly surrounded by other girls as her friends,

shots of them blowing bubblegum - poss slow mo? -, shots of love heart sweets in their mouth/on their tongue - quite hard to explain so here is an photo of the type of image we are going for :

Other ideas : girl looking in a heart shaped mirror - the shot shows the reflection of her face in the mirror, like this :

For possible sets we are currently thinking of one of the strands being set in a bedroom, pink sofa, and another strand of the girl lip syncing probably set in the studio.

We also like the idea of having the silhouette of one of the girls dancing with a pink background :

We have already done some thinking on who we want to cast in the video.

2. We also have a  'back up idea' in case the first one doesn't get the go ahead/approval from our classmates, teachers etc.
We have probably dedicated too much time to the first idea at this point so we intend to dedicate our next lesson solely to developing this back up idea, which is essentially the generic indie rock boy band video - made up mainly of performance shots. We would definitely want to film it on a location rather than a studio to make it more interesting and give us lots of other things to film and thus add additional strands to the video.  For the setting Vova came up with the great idea of setting it on a beach in late afternoon, in dusky light... the video for Yellow by Coldplay is a great example of the sort of look we would want. It is embedded below.
