My Editing Diary - first day of editing

Unfortunately I missed this lesson in the edit suite but my group informed me that Matt gave a quick recap on using the Adobe Premier programme and then they looked through the initial footage from the shoot. Sadly they discovered that a lot of our footage has absolutely no audio. However Matt assured us that most films use ADR (Automatic Dialogue Replacement) and so we will just have to dub the dialogue over the top of the edited footage in post production. Whilst this is a slight inconvenience, the bright side is that it means we have more freedom in changing the script if we decide that we want less dialogue than originally planned or that we want to update it slightly.

Initial research for evaluation questions 1 + 2

What kind of company would distribute your product? The main film distribution companies include… 20th century fox - have distributed films such as the Home Alone franchise, 27 dresses, Chicken Run, Adaptation, the Garfield franchise, and more. Lionsgate - have distributed films such as La La Land, The Hunger Games and The Divergent Series. Universal Pictures UK & US - have distributed films such as The Jurassic Park franchise, Jaws and The Despicable Me franchise. Vertigo Films - have distributed films such as Monsters, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Walking on Sunshine and Bronson . Walt Disney - has released the most films that have crossed the $1-billion-mark, for example Monsters Inc., The Princess Diaries, and Finding Nemo. Our film is quite similar to the film Taken, however with a slight twist as it is a wife doing the rescuing rather than a father. It also revolves around a telephone call which is similar to When a Stranger Calls ...

Altogether, it took us around 5 hours. Our cast was comprised of Adam Grant as Erik, Lee Johnson as John, Monty Taylor and Hugo Field as the Henchmen and Clare Mutzenich as Piper. Overall I think it was a very successful day. We managed to work efficiently and carefully as a group, getting all the filming done in a shorter time frame than I expected. We made sure to get a good variety of shots from different angles, including wide, midshot, close ups    etc.       We started the day by meeting with the actors at Ewhurst. First, we had to clear the basement because there were various things that were being stored in there. In order to not waste any time, we assigned some people to clear the room whilst others set up the lig...
