The Brighton Shoot
On this Saturday 4th November, we all went to Brighton for the day to film one strand of our music video with two members of our cast, Vickey and Josh.
The idea was to shoot all of the 'couple' scenes in Brighton. We were excited to go out on location by ourselves to film.
We filmed in various locations around the city. We arrived by train at 1:30 and filmed until 5pm.
I think the shoot day was quite successful as we got some nice footage and managed to film in all the locations we planned to - including on streets with pastel coloured houses, on the beach, and at the Level.
This street is the first location we filmed on. We filmed here because the houses are all pretty colours and very aesthetically pleasing. We chose to film in front of a pink door that had a pretty patterned door stop - pictured below :
At first we slightly struggled to set up the tripod and bubble it etc - as you can see in the picture above ! But we worked as a team to figure it out and then we were able to start filming smoothly.
We filmed close ups and mids of them walking, holding hands, sitting and talking.

We then walked to the Level - a park and skatepark - to film there.
Once we were done filming at the Level, we walked down towards the beach. On our way, we walked past a pretty fountain and decided to film on the benches there.
Finally, we got to the beach. When we arrived we saw that there was a beautiful sunset starting, which was perfect for the shots we wanted to get.
We shot on the bridge, on the actual beach and also on a concrete view point that went over the sea.
We were really happy with one shot that we got at the end, of Josh and Vickey holding hands with the sunset behind them - this is a shot idea that was inspired by a still from Lana Del Rey's music video, 'Love' :
Once we had got all the shots we wanted to, we sat in a cafe trying to warm up and looked over the footage. We felt happy with what we had shot and decided it was time to head home.
Overall we had a really fun, productive day and feel that we all developed as filmmakers over the course of the day.
