Meeting with the Art Directors
Today we met with two art directors and Matt to further discuss the sets for our video.
They suggested that whilst we can still go one weekend on our own and do some filming in Brighton, we should try to shoot a whole music video in the studio at school so that if the footage from Brighton isn't great then at least we'll still have enough footage for a whole music video.

So the strands in our video that can be set in the studio are...
- The three girls on the bed, the girl in the middle is the singer. For set design we have been advised to just 'create' a 'bed' in the studio, keeping it all on a low level, so we'll probably just have a mattress on the floor with duvets, cushion etc - rather than trying to create a whole bedroom ourselves.
- Wooden stool in front of a fake window with a sheer gauze curtain (which the set designers will help us create in the studio). We'll create fake wooden floors. Main girl perched on the stool. Really soft, spun out lighting, the gauze curtain will act as a 'lightbox' to make sure we achieve the soft, over exposed lighting that we want, like this photo by Petra Collins...
Alternating shots of the 3 different girls on the stool, draped over it, different positions, cut with the beat of the track.
- Girl under the cover, tracking shot with the camera on floor level. The idea of her body under the sheet looking almost like a terrain, a landscape. One of the art directors said she knew of a photographer who takes photos of the human body that look like landscapes such as deserts. I researched this and found a man called Carl Warner who creates photos of bodies that look eerily like deserts, mountains etc. This website has some of his best photos : https://petapixel.com/2013/07/29/bodyscapes-creating-landscape-photos-with-the-human-body/
They said that the costume element is super important and it would be cool to have lots of different costume changes. As I am very interested in fashion and styling for shoots I am excited to find different costumes for the video and am going to start properly finding all these this week. I already have a few ideas... a pink silk slip dress for the main singer, pink silk oriental trousers, recurring love heart and cherry motifs etc... lots of pink and beautiful materials basically !
