Using WIX software

For this exercise we created a homepage for an artist of our choosing using WIX software.
I chose the band Khruangbin.
The link to the website is : khruangbin.com
I started by choosing a picture to set as the background of the homepage. I looked at various images of the band on google images. At first I tried using this black and white photograph :
However I decided that this was not ideal for the ideology of the band as their music is very vibrant and colourful, and therefore I wanted a fun, bright image for the background. It is important for the website to adhere to the ideology/message of the band's music in order to ensure that their 'star image' is the same across everything that the band releases and creates. I eventually found this illustration of the band :
I really liked how this background looked on the homepage as I felt it fit well with the funky aesthetic of Khruangbin.
The original font on the WIX software looked too formal and boring so I chose one that looked more original, eventually deciding on 'Museo' - as shown below :
I wanted to have some background information about the artist on the homepage as here it is easily accessible and any fans looking at their website could find this information quickly. In my opinion, having a clear, accessible and simple website is very important.
I chose to give some brief information on the band such as the origin of their name. This information is quite individual to the band and thus is an interesting thing for people to read about on their homepage. I also included an icon or 'button' that the viewer can click on, which will take them to the band's Spotify page to listen to their debut album. Finally, I listed the band members to make them seem more obtainable and 'real' to their fans. This adheres to Dyer's Star Theory because it makes the artist present, yet simultaneously absent, to fans.

I then chose to include some information on their future performance dates and the festivals they would be appearing at :

I also listed their social medias using icons - the viewer can click on the icons to be transported to the respective social media page. In this day and age, social media is a huge part of an artist's identity and so it is important that people are able to find the band on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Soundcloud. These social platforms are also a way for artists to connect with their fans.
