Introduction - About Me

I’m Molly La Fosse and this is my Media Studies coursework blog.I’m sixteen years old and live in Billingshurst. I last studied at Cranleigh School where I did GCSE drama, spanish, geography and classics, english, maths and science.
My interests include watching films - my favourite directors being Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino - and reading. I am also interested in feminism and environmental issues, as well as fashion. Media is an essential tool for me as all my hobbies and interests depend on its use. I can find out about issues, petitions, world events etc through the use of social media and newspapers. I also love photography, using digital cameras and Diana film cameras.
I think films are one of the best forms of entertainment as there is a genre and director for everyone and there are new films coming out all the time.
I also love acting and watching plays.
I use media a lot, including Netflix, YouTube, and Instagram.
On netflix I watch TV programmes such as Orange Is The New Black and Gilmore Girls, and I’ve recently started the new programme Stranger Things.
My favourite music websites are soundcloud and spotify. I use soundcloud to publish mixes that my brother and I make. I also go to the cinema quite a lot, but prefer watching films at home.
My favourite film is probably Good Will Hunting, but other favourites include Rear Window, Pulp Fiction and the Baz Luhrmann version of Romeo and Juliet. My guilty pleasures are any cheesy 80s and 90s american high school films!!

I also read newspapers and magazines such as i-D and Dazed and Confused. I love to read VICE which is a great online source of news and interesting articles and documentaries.
Media is important to me because I think it opens up so many doors of opportunity and knowledge and is a vital tool in today's society. It also provides so much entertainment, in the form of films, articles, plays, music and more. It manages to expose society’s positives and negatives and can help to bring people from all different backgrounds and lifestyles together.
This year for our Media Studies course we are undertaking various projects including a preliminary task of filming a short conversation, and also making a thriller sequence.
I’m really looking forward to coming up with original ideas for the thriller sequence and putting them together in an effective, thrilling piece.
